Operations Update
There have been some exciting changes this year within the Operations department. With the creation of the Ingram Content Group (ICG), Johnny Secrest, Senior Vice President of Logistics for ICG became a member of the Lightning Source executive team. Johnny’s main goals for the group include providing superior service in our manufacturing and distribution areas, with intense focus on areas of continuous process improvement and lean manufacturing to enhance our product and services offerings.
In order to achieve these goals, two critical changes have been made in Operations leadership. Charles Marshall has been appointed as Vice President of Research and Development. In this role, Charles will focus on working with vendors for product enhancements, particularly in regard to quality and cost improvements. His concentration on research and development will make him a key leader technological innovation. The many projects Charles is working on include better and faster color printing and binding equipment.
Additionally, Jeff Royer has been appointed Vice President of Manufacturing. Jeff brings over 18 years of experience in critical engineering and manufacturing leadership roles in highly technical lean manufacturing environments to Lightning Source. Jeff is also keenly interested in customer satisfaction and will be working closely with customers as well as employees and suppliers.
Along with focusing on product and services improvements, bringing the Lightning Source Operations group in line with the other Ingram Content Group teams will help us take advantage of the combined distribution network to reduce delivery times. All of these changes should result in customers seeing a noticeable change in product offerings and service levels in the future.
